Purple Finch (Carpodacus purpureus)
A year round Michigan resident. Even though its name implies that it is purple in coloring actuality it is reddish. The Latin species name "pupureus" actually means "crimson". Another species normally feeding on seeds, that has adapted at our home to sharing grape jelly with the Baltimore Orioles.
