  • Tricolored herons are one of most abundant  herons in the  South.
  • When stalking its prey, the Tricolored heron will go deeper into the water than any other heron. 
  • When it senses danger, a Tricolored heron will try and camouflage itself by standing straight with its bill pointed to the sky.
  • Some names for a flock of herons are: a “rookery”, “scattering”, “hedge”, “battery” or “pose”
