Leading the Way
As we headed out on the first day, we decided to take a few of the back roads to get a feel for what stage of the color change we were in. It's a bit later this year as a result of the constantly changing weather, but the color change has begun in all its glory. Here is some background information as we begin our journey. Color change: As the days get shorter and the nights get cooler. the trees get the message that it is time to prepare for winter. The color results from the chlorophyll, the green pigment in the leaves, breaking down and revealing all of the underlying colors. And now you know why the green leaves begin to transition to the reds, yellows oranges and purples that make autumn so colorful.
