The Port of Funchal
The island of Madeira had a population of slightly over 100, 000 at the time we were there some 20+ years ago. When in the port, it seemed as though there were almost as many boats as there were people. The city faces the Atlantic with a beautiful backdrop of mountains. The climate is such that the flowers bloom year round only adding to the beauty of the island.
