Perching Duck
Wood ducks often are referred to as "Carolina Ducks". They nest in trees typically in hollowed out nests of squirrels, etc. They often are found perching in trees observing their surroundings.
They are very colorful, like this male. Both the male and female have red eyes and a red bill.
