Meleagris gallopavo
This wild turkey is a bird native to the US. It is considered a proud bird that has strong protective instincts. In face, Benjamin Franklin preferred this to the eagle as our national bird. Benjamin Franklin recognized that bald eagle rob other birds of prey and therefore considered it less honorable - - a scavenger. Wild turkeys can run up to 25mph and can fly at speeds up to 55 mph. Their vision is about 3 times better than ours and actually can see in color.
