Muskrats are semi-aquatic mammals.  They look a lot like beavers  as they have furry bodies and partially webs hind feet. The biggest difference between the two is the tail.  The beaver has a wide flattened tail whereas the muskrat's tail is long and thin.   Muskrats are omnivores the help the waterfowl by creating channels in the underwater plants.  They also dine on shrimp, crayfish and other small creatures.

Here are a couple of facts I never knew.  The babies are called kits like the fox babies.  The adults are named just like deer.  The female is a doe and the male is a buck (without horns of course)!
