Adult Eagles
As with most birds of prey the female is the larger bird which is the same for the North American bald eagle. The female can weigh up to 14 pounds whereas males are in the 7-10 pound weight range. The female's wingspan can reach up to an impressive 8 feet: the male's wingspan norma;;y is about 6 1/2 feet in comparison. Eagles mate for life and grow old together. They live an average of 25-40 years.
