Standing close to the edge - - maybe 10-15 feet back - - when an incoming wave hit a limestone outcropping just to the right gave me a real sense of the power of the ocean.
The Anastasia Formation is special. It is comprised of quartz sand and limestone that was formed sea shells that have been broken down and mashed together.
Here's a fair unknown fact. When standing on the sand at Blowing Rocks, you are standing on part of the Appalachian Mountains which came down from Georgia over millions of years ago.
