Finishing Touches
The clutch has been complete for at least 2 weeks. The pen will incubate them for about 5 or 6 weeks before the cygnets are born. During this time the cob stays nearby to defend the nest. During this time I have seen the pen leave the nest for short periods to feed on the vegetation within about a 10 foot radius and to bathe. Before she leaves the nest, she usually hides the eggs by covering them over with material from the nest.
