Creating New Life
The next stage is when the male mounts the female. First he will paddle himself alongside her facing in the opposite direction. Then he turns so he is at a 90 degree angle off to her side. After that he climbs onto her back. At that point, she will be sitting much lower in the water due his weight on her back. Once done, he will quickly dismount her and the two birds will again face each other and rise so they're almost out of the water. They then will begin more movements as before. They look like they are one - - like a ballet - -in perfect harmony with one another.
