Whale's Tail

We set out before sunrise In a Zodiac inflatable boat in the cold waters off the coast of Bonavista Newfoundland looking for whales.  After a slow start we began seeing the spouts from a group of whales.  As we approached we discovered several humpback whales which typically range in size from 40-50 feet long and weigh in at 30-50 tons.

By far much larger than our 6 person Zodiac.

One whale was attracted to our boat as it kept surfacing very closely.  I was in the bow making it difficult to hold a camera steady or stay dry.  The benefit was the excitement and a few shots like this one.
